IC
Name: Kaeya Alberich
Canon: Genshin Impact
Canon Point: Post-Golden Apple Archipelago, aka Patch 2.0
Age: Early- to mid-20s? We're never given an exact age, but if pushed, I'd say around 22.

History/Personality: History, but as for the rest, Kaeya is:
charming

Well! One is not voted "top candidate for grandson-in-law" for nothing! Or: Kaeya is, without a doubt, a personable person, capable of charming all manner of individuals. I suppose he's rather like a chameleon! Despite being the Cavalry Captain™ of the Knights of Favonius, he's still able to blend in with—is actually welcomed by—taverns' less-than-savory regulars? Criminals share all manner of gossip with him, despite the fact that he could (and sometimes does) arrest them for it, and this is simply because Kaeya is so... likable.

confident

It takes a lot to shake Kaeya? It's genuinely difficult to fluster him, let alone confuse him, because he's aware of both his strengths and his charms. There is always a way out of/around a given situation; he knows that he can and will find it, so he rarely feels stressed—and when he does, he never shows it.

And even if he isn't able to, like, talk his way out of something, Kaeya is the sort who is always, always, prepared. Back home in Mondstadt, this means that he spends his free time meandering about, familiarizing himself with both its people and its shady underbelly. Others may see this as Kaeya slacking, but that's often just because he's going about his job in an unorthodox manner, making sure it's very difficult for anything or anyone to get the jump on him.

clever

Kaeya may play the fun-chasing flirt, when it suits him, but don't let that fool you; Kaeya is an undoubtedly clever individual, the person the other knights turn to when they help piecing something together—and the person the Acting Grand Master, Jean, trusts to handle all manner of messes. He's quite good at reading others? Is aware of when to flatter and when to silently smile, which is why he's often the first to hear of rumors threatening the well-being of Mondstadt. He knows when and how to bury his Knightly Persona™ in exchange for something more down-to-earth, and thus he's usually the person recognizing when and how the tide is turning.

duplicitous

Despite being an honor-bound knight, Kaeya is hiding a secret: he is, in fact, one of the few survivors of the doomed kingdom of Khaenri'ah, placed in one of Mondstadt's leading families by his scheming father. He's to serve as an agent; like, at some as-of-yet-undetermined point in the future, Kaeya is presumably to relay everything he knows of Mondstadt and its people to his people—but will he? Will he, after Mondstadt and its people welcomed him with open arms? Time will tell...

But as this is something Kaeya must keep hidden, lying has become a sort of, ah, second nature, for him? And on one hand, he embraces this; like, he's well-known for spinning dramatic tales, for tricking both criminals and fellow knights alike, and he enjoys his reputation as an unpredictable (and somewhat shady) individual. Lying to everyone around him does take its toll, however. It means that he isn't truly close with anyone, and it's cost him some particularly important relationships...

numb

Because of his aforementioned History, Kaeya tends to keep others at an arm's length. Like, sure, he'll charm and/or flirt with anyone he needs to, but that's just business; he won't offer anyone any more information than they need, be it about himself or anything else, and that is because Kaeya... does not want to care about them. Not really, anyway. People are, as a whole, disappointing; he has no desire to waste his time and/or effort on those who will act in a predictable manner, which is why he tends to leave people to their own devices, watching and waiting for them to do something even slightly entertaining. Even his colleagues are not free of this? Kaeya enjoys the clear uncertainty they feel whenever they're paired up with him; he loves when his teammates are not quite sure if he intends to help or hinder, so. He generally does not care what others think of him; he's just out to have a swell time.

provocative

Kaeya loves provoking reactions from those closest to him! Whether it's causing the Traveler to roll their eyes or causing Diluc to snap at him, Kaeya genuinely enjoys poking and prodding others until they break from their normal state—because that's fun, for him? That's how he knows he's pushed past their defenses and struck at something deeper. Or: Kaeya is a liar. He's been forced to lie ever since his father abandoned him on his adoptive father's doorstep, and thus Kaeya enjoys pushing others' boundaries. Will this person lie to him, or will they tell the truth—it's a game, of sorts, and depending on the reaction—on what proves to be most interesting—Kaeya will adjust his approach.
Would you consider your character to be heroic? Why or why not?:
Ask Kaeya point-blank if he considers himself to be a hero, and be prepared to meet with a) laughter and b) a denial. A hero? Him? Oh, please. He's more interested in staying in the shadows, watching out for himself—while keeping an eye on others. Not that he's heroic, or anything, but...

...Well. The truth, of course, is that Kaeya will do almost anything to protect those he cares for? That Kaeya will put his life on the line for others, but far be it from Kaeya to openly admit such a thing. He has a reputation to uphold, after all! Kaeya, Cavalry Captain, using others as bait and/or fodder—while ensuring they survive whatever encounter he happens to drag them into. It's fine! It isn't at all heroic!

(It isn't, really, but Kaeya's determination to ensure that everyone escapes alive—that may be? Just don't talk about it, please.)
Powers/Abilities: Ta-da! Though I will add that Kaeya does have a bit of freedom when it comes to his cryo abilities? Ice-cold touches, for example. Locking someone in place via a frozen puddle. Creating a temporary barrier. Nothing excessive, but it's just ice magic, baybee... he can be somewhat creative with it, though I will never go Wild with his abilities...
Inventory:
  • His Vision, which is hanging from his hip.
  • Aquila Favonia, which is just a very nice sword (that reminds Kaeya of his Ties to the Knights of Favonius tbh)
  • One (1) Mora, aka a coin for him to flip because he's obnoxious
His Wind Glider, which is exactly as it sounds. It allows him to glide for short-ish distances when he leaps from high places... that's it...
Coterie: Vipers! It seems a good fit for a tricky guy like Kaeya...

Samples: One and Two!
